On the Issues
- Presence in the 8th CD

I am a lifelong resident of the 8th Congressional District of Minnesota. When elected I will come back to the district, because I love it here and have several business, family, and friend connections. Unlike Mr. Oberstar who will not come back to the district unless it involves a hard hat, shovel, and a camera for his pork projects, I will hold town hall meetings, phone conferences, events, and parades even in an off election year.
- Economy

As a former business owner myself, I realize that the private sector flourishes the most when government is involved the least. As your Congressman I will support and enact policies that can help make business strong again and get our economy moving again.
- Energy
-
Now more than ever it is important for us as a country to become energy independent. I believe we can do this through “drill here drill now” policies. We also need to lift the ban on nuclear energy to help support other energy sources such as wind and solar. By ensuring that we become energy independent we will not only lower the cost of the final product, but ensue safety for our citizens.
- Defending America

I believe it is the federal government’s utmost responsibility to defend and protect our freedoms and liberties. This includes at home and abroad. When it comes to our military I think we need to ensure that they receive the same kind of dedication from their government that we receive from the military personnel. I will make sure our military can stay strong by never voting for a measure that would cut or under fund our military. I will also vote to ensure the men and women who serve us will not have to ever worry about their benefits being cut. On the home front, I believe our borders need to be more secure. Having more secured borders will slow the flow of drugs and terrorists into this country. I believe that people have a right to come to this country to experience all of the wonderful things we have to offer as long as it is done legally. For people in this country illegally, they should be deported. These people should never have access our social services as illegals.
- 2nd Amendment

I grew up in a family owned gun store where I was continuously exposed to 2nd Amendment rights issues. Because of my intimate knowledge of these issues coupled with my full understanding of the importance of our 2nd Amendment rights, I am the perfect catalyst to ensure that all rights to bearing any arms are protected.
- Education

I believe that Federal Government needs to get their tentacles out of our children’s education. The educational decisions are best made by those closest to the children and should be done through state and local entities should as local school boards and PTAs.
- Taxing
-
During the last year we have seen some of the largest tax increases on the middle class through “cap & trade” and other erroneous government programs that only hurt people and move our county backwards. I believe that individuals can spend their money better then the government. I will fight to ensure that there are no additional taxes. In addition, I will work vigorously with other conservative members of Congress to ensure that the over regulated and under-effective tax code is simplified, changed, or eliminated.
- Spending

Our country’s budget deficit topped $1 trillion for the first time in our nation’s history this summer. Our nation’s debt stands near $12 trillion. The White House and Congress seem to have no plans to stop spending either. As a former small business owner I realize that we cannot spend ourselves into prosperity. We cannot print ourselves into prosperity either. We must slow the flow of big government spending to ensure future generations can prosper.
- Size Of Government

Every year our federal government becomes larger and larger. With no end in sight, Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District needs a conservative Congressman who will fight to stop and reduce the bloated size of government. As your Congressman I will not enact or vote for any policies that increase the size or burden of the federal government over the people.
- Life

I believe that every life is a special gift from God. With that said, I do believe that life begins at conception. As a new parent I truly understand how special life is. In Congress I will fight to ensure that the rights of unborn children are protected.
